DHB misses practice

Wide receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey sat out the afternoon practice in Alameda, though the Raiders declined to state a reason. "He'll get into it tomorrow," team spokesman John Herrera said, referring to coach Tom Cable.

It's Day 2 of Raiders minicamp No. 1, in between practices 3 and 4, and the unstoppable touchdown combination of the future has taken a step backward. It was not a good morning for JaMarcus Russell or Darrius Heyward-Bey.

In case you hadn't heard yet, each of the eight original American Football League teams will be marking its 50th anniversary by playing in "legacy games" this season. That includes the Raiders, who will be wearing throwback uniforms four times in 2009. Check out the unis here.

How excited should we be about Mike Mitchell?

Mike Mitchell is only the third player since 2004 to be drafted in the second round after failing to get invited to the NFL scouting combine. It's another way of stating that Mitchell was a gamble for the Raiders at No. 47, which you already knew.
